Crestwood Comets at Berwick Bulldogs

 Post-Game report

Berwick Dawg fans were a little nervous going into tonight’s matchup with bitter rivalry Crestwood.  Crestwood was just coming off a tough loss to Wilkes-Barre Coughlin and Berwick pulled off a miracle victory over Wyoming Area to stay undefeated at 3-0.

Berwick played their best game of the season and started off on fire.  The opening kickoff was returned by Tegan Wilk to the Berwick 45.  On the 1st play of the game Evan Klinger went 45 yards on a brilliant run to the end zone putting Berwick up by a score of 6-0.  Ken Marshman came on and added the PAT and Berwick had all the points they needed for the night with a 7-0 lead early.

Crestwood held up well for almost the whole 1st quarter as the game was still tied late.  Tegan Wilk with 1:55 left in the quarter had a nice 9 yard TD run putting Berwick up 13-0.  Ken Marshman again added the point and Berwick was now up 14-0.

Disaster struck Crestwood on the next series as Alex Parks made a nice INT and returned it 20 yards to the Crestwood 22, however the officials called a hold on the return and Berwick was pushed back to the Crestwood 43 yard line.  Berwick came right back on a 26 yard pass from Alex Force to Tegan Wilk and a 17 yard TD pass from Force to Eric Montes which put Berwick up 20-0.  Ken Marshman again added the PAT and the Dawgs were now in total control 21-0 and the end of the 1st quarter.

In the 2nd quarter Berwick scored 4 times:
with 11:24 left in the quarter Jarret Watts caught a 43 yard TD pass but a bad snap on the PAT
            made the score 27-0

27 seconds later at 10:49 Tegan Wilk picked off a pass and returned it 27 yards for a score and      Berwick went for 2 with a successful completion from Force to Norce and the score now was 35-0

with 7:23 left before half Evan Klinger had a 6 yard TD run and the Marshman Pat made it     42-0

the last score of the half came at the 3:00 minute mark on a 38 TD run by Owen Shoemaker and with the PAT by Marshman the Dawgs would be up at Halftime by 49-0

The 2nd half started with the Mercy Rule in effect and Berwick got to use all their substitutes giving them some valuable experience.  The only score of the 2nd half was a 22 TD run by Owen Shoemaker plus the Pat by Marshman which made the final score Berwick 56 Crestwood 0.

This week will be another very important game with Selinsgrove 3-1 coming into Crispin Field to face the Dawgs who are now 4-0 on Friday night 09-22-17.
