Eddie's Column

Congratulations to Pottsville as they venture into deep waters, week 13. This is the first state playoff trip for the Crimson Tide. Liberty was so very impressive in Hazleton last week. Outstanding speed and a good looking defense make the Hurricanes a major 4A power. The Manhiem Central Barons and the Strath Haven Panthers that have defined 3A Pennsylvania football, are alive and well. Mike Williams and Kevin Clancy have maintained these machine like quality programs. McKeesport with their triple option wishbone scheme over powered Woodland Hills in the WPIAL finals. State College continues to impress, the Little Lions are a force to be dealt with. Remember State College lost by two to Bishop McDevitt in week one. The Crusaders had a healthy LeSean McCoy back then.

Watched the East Stroudsburg University Warriors dismantle the Bloomsburg Huskies 52-39 in a NCAA D-2 match up.Jimmy Terwillinger the Warrior QB and Harlin Hill Trophy award finalist, threw four touchdown passes. Jamar Brittinghan rushed for two hundred yards as the Huskies finish at 11-1. ESU takes on CW Post next week. Earlier this year Terwinger lit up Post for nine(count them) touchdown passes in a record breaking 69-49 win.

Pet peeve department. Why must the Heisman be a December award? The real contest is in January. The Vince Young-Reggie Bush battle is slated for the Rose Bowl. Settle the deal for the national championship and Heisman between the lines. Two birds with one stone. How about that USC defense? 42 points surrendered to Fresno State. Vince Young and Mack Brown must be smiling beneath the Texas skies.

Everyone who thinks Big Ben Roethlisberger is not a decent quarterback, look at the Steelers now. They are down right offensive on offense. Big Ben makes plays.Sure Pittsburgh runs straight down hill..If they can throw 10 times and win, so be it. Baltimore put nine in the box and dared the Steelers to throw. Try that with Roethlisberger.

I made fun of Joe Paterno for weeks on my sports show. His Old Testament playbook, and out of touch philosophies. This just in, what do I know? The Nittany Lions bring home the Big 10 championship. BCS worthy, not BS worthy as I am.

I almost wrote a column with out mentioning Terrel Owens. Or George Curry. Catch you helmetheads later.
