Hurricane Sandy has left it's mark on the Freshman Football Schedule. The final play day is Monday, November 4, 2012. Berwick's game with Coughlin was scheduled for this past Monday, but the storm forced it to be cancelled. As Coughlin prepares for their final game against Crestwood, there is no time available to make up the game in the remaining days.
Hazleton, Berwick's last game, was scheduled for Thursday, November 1, 2012 but it was just cancelled by Hazleton, as they are still not back to school and there is no expected date available for them to play.
Athletic Director Tim Honeywell is attempting to find a final game to be played Monday, but it doesn't look good at this time.
The Bulldogs returned from trips to Tunkhannock and Lewisburg with their luggage in tow. The road was good to the young DAWGS as they won both of those contests. The DAWGS faced a unique challenge in Pittson. Pittston was fresh off a big win against Dallas and looking to give Berwick all it could handle. Pittston brought with them good size and a veteran coaching staff.
But this would be the Bulldogs day from snap to finish. Chad Balliet lead the Bulldog offense with a 5 for 6 performance, 126 yards passing and 2 touchdowns with no picks. Balliet also added a run for 5 yards. Sean McCole lead all the rushers with 86 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
The offensive line was busy working hard for a number of backs, as Alex Koch, Matt Shannon, and Luke Fisher ran all over Pittston Defenders. The Bulldogs rushed 30 times for 243 yards in the game. If you include the 126 yards passing, that is 369 yards of offense.
Berwick would build a 38-0 lead mid way through the 3rd period and never look back on their way to a 38-8 win. The starting Defenese gave up 1 first down through three quarters of play.
Next week, the 6-2 DAWGS host the 7-1 Crusaders of Coughlin at Crispin Field on Monday. You won't want to miss this one!
Great job DAWGS!
